Sue Garrod Sue Garrod
has been performing on trombone for 25 years. In Indiana she was a member of the
Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, the
Lafayette Citizens Band, and the
The Big Swing Band. In her early years of studying music, she fondly remembers her experiences at the
Interlochen National Music Camp where she was a musician in the World Youth
Symphony Orchestra, the jazz band, and other groups.
Sue now plays trombone with a variety of musical groups in Hawaii, including The Olliephonic Horns, Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra, Casablanca, Kona Dance Band, and live musical theater productions. Sue earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering and a Ph.D. in business strategy from Purdue University, during which time she performed with the Purdue symphonic band, marching and jazz bands. For 14 years, Sue was a tenured faculty member in electrical engineering technology at Purdue. After leaving Purdue, she was a technical marketing researcher and analyst for Cadence Design Systems, an engineering design software company in California. Sue is now a commercial account manager for Hawaii Electric Light Company (HELCO). She and her husband reside in Kailua-Kona.
