Orrin Olson Orrin Olson
performed for 25 years as a principal horn with the
Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, performing
operas, ballets and musicals. He was also principal horn with the
National
Gallery Orchestra and the Washington Chamber Orchestra. Orrin was a very
active free-lance musician in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. area.
He toured and performed various concerts with the
National Symphony Orchestra. His television performances included Presidential Inaugural Galas,
Christmas in Washington, and the Kennedy Center Honors.
Orrin was on the faculty of the University of Maryland, where he taught French horn, and was a member of both the Faculty Brass Quintet and Faculty Woodwind Quintet. During his ten years of retirement in Kona, Orrin has performed as an extra with the Honolulu Symphony. He also performs with his wife Judith in Kona's Traveling Jewish Wedding Band. Orrin also expands the repertoire of The Kona Brass by arranging American, and Germanic (including Bavarian and Austrian) folk music for brass quintet.
