Introducing The Kona Brass Quintet

The Kona Brass was formed in 2004 to bring brass quintet music to West Hawaii.  Centuries ago, brass quintets were the means of closely intertwining music with life's activities.  They performed for townspeople and royalty, for formal and informal events - in the market places, for special dinners and dances, and in the places of worship.  The music spread with travelers from one region to another.

The Kona Brass continues this tradition by performing a repertoire that spans 600 years of musical styles - from the Renaissance through to the jazz era.  Our informal and public 'talk story concerts' tell listeners about the interesting background of the music and composers.  We also create custom programs for private events such as dinners, cocktail parties, weddings, birthdays, graduations, and any other opportunity where music will make the moment special.  Audiences throughout West Hawaii have enjoyed The Kona Brass and their variety of entertaining classical, swing, jazz, ragtime, march, Hawaiian, Dixieland, and Christmas music. Fans follow us around the island to hear our public performances, and they usually have one word as feedback - "Awesome."
